We have only 24 days before we get to meet our little man BETSON. I am excited but also nervous. When I think about the situation that has brought him to New Life Link it saddens me greatly. It is one thing to lose your parents and be put up for adoption but to know that out of 4 children you were the one chosen to be put up for adoption has got to be a horrible feeling. I just pray that Betson will be able to adjust quickly to life with our family and know that he is one of our children forever! We do have plans to help keep him connected with his biological family as much as possible and of course in years to come he will be along side us on our mission trips to his homeland!!!
Kazen and I felt very blessed tonight. Since our "big" girls were at church camp this week Annette, Johnnie Craig, Kazen and I went out for a KID FREE dinner at Outback! We had a great time talking and laughing. Apparently Betson has been on their hearts also because tonight they informed us that they would like to have a BBQ fundraiser for the adoption. Of course they want it to be something that our small group does together....Have I ever mentioned that our small group performs miracles...just sayin' they all ROCK!!!
Just from talking tonight it looks like this will happen sometime early to mid August. For those of you who do not know it, Johnnie Craig did this kind of stuff for 20 years! It is going to be fabulous and taste even better. They are thinking brisket and pulled pork, beans, potato salad etc. I will report more details as they are given to me. We will start selling tickets at $10 per plate (and it will not be a super model portion!) soon so keep your ears open. If you are interested in helping sell tickets please let us know.
We received an email from our Pastor, of Second Baptist Church of Baytown, that he will be traveling to Haiti Saturday morning!!! This is an answer to prayer as to how we were going to get out Dossier to Dr. B. Today Kazen is making copies of our Dossier and handing it over to Tommy tonight to bring with him to Haiti. Now we will just be awaiting an email from Dr. B with our referral. If you do not know, a referral is when Dr. B matches us with a child. We have requested a boy between the ages of 2 to 3 years old. Please pray that we will receive this before we leave for Haiti on July 16th so that we will get to meet our little boy, as this was one of the main reasons for Brooke and I going to Haiti this summer.
Our documentation came back from the Haitian consulate this week so we are now certified. This means that apart from Kazen and I getting multiple copies of passport photos done we have our Dossier complete and can send it to New Life Link Orphanage NOW. We are looking for someone to hand deliver it to Haiti for us so all this time, effort and money does not get lost in the mail. Once this is received we will just be waiting on the referral to see who our little boy is!!!! God has picked our first 2 children so cannot wait to see who He will pick for our 3rd child. So exciting that things are moving right along.
Please continue with the prayer as we are really still just at the beginning of this process. If you feel led to help out financially please either send a check or click on the Paypal link.
